Dear Embodied Hearts and Dancing Souls,
Loved ones, shit is hitting the fan and it feels far from over. You know—if you have reading and listening to the activations—that you are meant to be here at this time. You signed up for this. You have golden fire seeping through your veins. Only you can find what you are nudged to. In this next cycle of growth, as Nature begins showcasing the budding growth of seeds sheltered by cold, I find myself nudged towards the light in our voices.
Today’s poems are all about voices, and different stages of the journey of climbing into your unique voice. Did you know…your voice is as unique as your fingerprint? It’s made possible by your unique physical configuration in this body. You will never have this voice again in another life-time, in another body. Take time to LINGER on the first poem—an African American musician claiming essential space for her voice.
Feeling Good. As I said last week, I had significant light streaming through my body, specifically my heart. As I followed the stalk of my various projects to the root of my true desires, I was led to a fantastic place. I felt like I was falling in love with my book. Instead of feeling driven by a mission, I began looking forward to being with my book. I couldn't wait to spend another hour with it or see where we might go next.
It is like recovering a layer of my life verve that I thought was lost. Somewhere in there, I even sense the yappity, non-stop talkative child I naturally was ...a feature (not a bug) that was a part of my personhood until I was 6 or 7 years old. I cannot believe I can feel this Alive in my late 50s. And TA-DA: I completed the sixth chapter of my book on Friday, Nina Simone's birthday. An InterPlay colleague sent me this righteous cover of her song when I posted about it (link also above).
I received more lovely feedback on the Glow classes which I'm sharing here:
“I arrived tired from a long day, but my body felt alive and buzzing at the end of the experience. Such a safe, nonjudgmental space to play! The true gifts from my day came to me—that I had touched people and been touched by them. I felt my heart expand.” ~ Andrea from Los Angeles, CA
“Your word choice helped me expand into life-affirming ways of relating to my body. This was especially important now since I have some injuries. I loved passing the glow ball back and forth; the noticings were rich. The loving ‘yes’ to welcome all of me in this space felt like a gift!” ~ Kevin from Rochester, NY
Light streaming through me. Light expanding me. and I'm feeling goood.
In the Middle of this Life, a Pause. I can feel this middle of the road sabbatical coming to a close. I hadn't planned this pause, but my soul drew it towards me. Again, my mind thought it was trying to erect a new professional identity, a "business" even...and though that is starting to happen, the real truth is that I am creating the foundation for my future work. I am learning the direction to point my effort towards, honing my message, and what I'm called to teach. I have started creating (and giving) talks from my book content:
Why Play Matters: The Anatomy of a Play Date;
The Body Whisper: Listen, Move and Play for Transformation;
Your Body has a Voice: Tuning into Your Most Powerful Ally.
Here is my recent conversation on Andrea Hylen’s Carving a New Path podcast.
It took six months to really get it, but now I am in relationship with this. Though I have a long way to go, right now I feel I’ve been doing well by the Body's voice, serving as a trusted steward. And now I see, carrying the light of the Body voice into the world is also guiding me to expand my own.
To Your Choices and Voices. Let's be clear. We are living in the largest clusterf**k of our times. I don't know how this is going to end -- they appear to own the money and the guns but I trust in the power of our individual and collective choices. I trust in Mark Nepo's quote:
The goal of all experience is to remove whatever keep us from being whole.
AND, I trust in the power of each of our voices. It’s no accident I’m being nudged to utilize my vocal chords. It’s no accident we have more on-line platforms than ever where individuals express their truth, find their following. I am loving InterPlay colleagues finding their on-line voice. Some are taking time to provide quality information. Others have people share the impact of wanton dismantling of funding and jobs on real people. I love these acts because they align with their truth, shed light, not divisiveness.
Notice: when AOC came out, the conservative right was hell bent on attacking her. Out of all of the politicians, she was the one they perceived as a threat. Why? Because her young voice spoke truth. She had that je ne sais quoi of electricity in her voice. I delight whenever a conservative Indian male speaks of her in dangerous tones. It’s their tell.
The real work is to speak and act from light. You only have to be Yourself. How will you illumine? How will you find a way to express what trembles to be said out loud? What information can you share, and to whom, so people learn to think for themselves and act from their precious light, and not fear?
I am being guided to offer a drop in series precisely so we can experience the light in our bodies, hearts and voices. More on the next page. I hope you’ll join me.
To your exquisite unfolding. Stay #heartwoke.
